Hi, I’m Tonny!

Tonny Meng-Lun Kuo is a Ph.D. candidate at the College of Technology Management of National Tsing Hua University (NTHU), Taiwan. He is also the research fellow at the Center for Social Network Research (CSNR), Tsinghua University, China. He specializes in organizational behavior and business analytics. His works focus on 1) social network and leadership, 2) team creativity and innovation, 3) positive psychology and online learning, and 4) service marketing and consumption. He enjoys applying techniques and methods (field experiments, predictive analytics, multilevel modeling) to study emerging service and organizational issues.

He is extremely interested in working with industry partners to solve real-world problems. He believes that phenomena breed sciences and theories are derived from the practice and authentic contexts. He has worked with service firms and organizations to develop state-of-the-art online services such as ShareCourse (Taiwan’s MOOC platform) and MyTaiwanTour (Tavel Agency) for human capital development. He has also worked with AsiaYo (an O2O firm) to provide data-driven solutions for service optimization.

Given today’s turbulent business environment, he holds interdisciplinary mindsets. He is trained in (1) business analytics (social network analysis, behavioral data mining, structural equation and multilevel modeling), (2) service innovation (design thinking, human-computer interaction, design-based research), and (3) organizational/educational psychology. He was also trained in TESOL/TCSOL (teaching English and Mandarin Chinese to speakers of other languages), learning technologies (BA in TESOL/ MA in learning sciences) before he decided to study business.

His previous experiences include working as a research assistant responsible for projects in technology-enabled service design and development (MOOCs and employee training platforms), scale development (cross-disciplinary competence, online academic hardiness), data-driven solutions for service optimization (identifying high-risk transactions). He also served as an instructor and teaching assistant to guide practitioners to learn the methodology of service innovation and pre-/in-service teachers to design the technology-supported learning environment.

郭孟倫是臺灣國立清華大學科技管理學院管理學博士候選人。他主修組織行為與商業分析。他的研究工作聚焦於:(1)社會網路與領導力、(2)團隊創造力與創新、(3)積極心理學與線上學習、(4)服務行銷與消費。他喜歡應用進階方法與技巧(如:場域隨機實驗、大數據預測分析、多層次模型)來研究新興服務與組織的議題。

他對產業夥伴合作以解決實務問題有極高興趣,他深信現象產生科學,好的理論來自實踐與真實情境。因此,他與服務型公司/組織合作開發新興線上服務,如台灣大規模線上學習MOOC平台ShareCourse、旅遊服務公司MyTaiwanTour等。他也和O2O公司AsiaYo合作,根據交易資料來以提出資料驅動的服務優化方案,解決高風險訂單問題。

有鑒於商業環境的複雜與動盪,他擁有跨領域的思維。他接受良好的(1)商業分析(社會網路分析、行為大數據分析、結構方程式與多層次模型)、(2)服務創新(設計思考、人機互動、設計本位研究)以及(3)組織與教育心理學訓練。在研究商業以前,他也曾受過英語教學與對外漢語教學、學習科技等訓練(英語教學學士、學習科學碩士)。

他過去曾擔任研究助理,負責科技化服務設計與研發(MOOC平台與員工培訓系統)、量表開發(跨領域核心素養、線上學業堅毅)、資料驅動的服務優化(辨別高風險交易)。他也擔任講師與教學助理,引導實務專家學習服務創新的核心方法論、指導職前/在職語言教師設計科技化學習環境。
